Join Tyfu Cymru for a fully funded study visit to Wyevale Nurseries to learn more about their tree and hedging production.
Wyevale are a Wholesale Nursery, producing 31 Hectares of container shrubs and herbaceous, 182 hectares of field and container trees and one hundred hectares of forestry and hedging.
Wyevale supply both the retail and the amenity sector and with demand growing for native trees and hedging, sales are increasingly strong.
Wyevale’s production (possibly uniquely in the UK) takes plants from seed and cuttings through to Extra Heavy Standard Trees.
Itinerary for the day
9.30 Arrival. Coffee and brief introduction
10.00 Tour of main shrub facility. Including propagation facility. Here we will see propagation both cuttings and seed. Young Liner plants, 2 Litre, 3 Litre 5 Litre, 7.5 Litre and 20 Litre production
11.30 Relocate to Tree production. Here we will see budded trees, trees in the field from 175cm up to 16-18cm girth and also container grown tree production sizes 8-10 up to 16-18cm. The field production also includes multi-stem trees and mature hedging.
13.00 Lunch
14.00 Depart for our Transplant facility at Red Marley near Ledbury
15.00 Arrive at Transplant facility at Red Marley near Ledbury. Here we will see field growing of hedging, forestry and transplants. Both seed sowing and transplanted crops
16.00 FinishWyevale staff will still be on hand to answer any questions or spend further time around the production beds
