Henbant is a small diverse family and community farm between the mountains and the sea in Northwest Wales. One of their core aims is to prove that a small farm in less favoured area can produce food, financial, social and environmental profit, sequester carbon and be enjoyable to manage.
Matt and Jenny have been on their permaculture journey since 2012 and have planted a variety of fruit trees as part of their agroforestry project. The trees, a perfect age and size will provide Chris Creed from ADAS the ideal opportunity to demonstrate good pruning techniques and the importance of maintaining good pruning practices for tree health, quality of fruit and ease of harvest.
He will talk through pruning maiden trees to establish correct frameworks and discus different methods of pruning and the reason for it.
He will also touch on apple tree pest, disease, and disorders.
There will be opportunity for questions and answers so you can be completely confident with techniques.
