Growing media, Pest & Disease in Strawberries and Raspberries

Chris Creed (Senior Horticulture Consultant, ADAS) will look at the seasonal management of strawberries and raspberries, through flowering, from how to successfully crop walk and pest ID, use of Bioprotectants and conventional pesticides. He will talk about the importance of regular feeding and watering, tunnel venting, and how to deal with tip scorch in a critical time. There will be opportunity for grower participation to learn from previous experiences and improve establishment in these crops. The meeting will also include a review of sustainable alternatives to peat for strawberry growing, including a review of recent research of wood fiber-based substrates in the Horti-blueC project led by Ewan Gage (ADAS).
